Welcome to the Syllabus to Site course. This site will guide you through the process of building a simple, basic Canvas course. There are many ways to design courses in Canvas, this is just one simple example.

It is recommended you proceed through this course sequentially, however below are shortcuts to the different sections of the site. If at any point you require additional help. Please contact the OIT helpdesk and we will be happy to set up some training!

Course Goals:

• Provide written examples of how to create a basic course.
• Provide opportunities for students to submit examples of their work for feedback.
• Provide an example of a course template to get started with.
• Provide examples of what Canvas can do.

 Course structure

• Import any pre-existing content.
• Create Modules to organize your content, or structure your course using only Pages.
• Create content via pages.

Assessments

• Create assignments for your students.
• Create discussion boards for your students.
• Create any quizzes.
• Clean up any additional items in the Gradebook

 The calendar

• Place calendar events for your class meetings.
• View the results of your building work.

 Publish your site!

• Finalize your course navigation
• Setup your course homepage
• Celebrate!
