Modules or "all Pages"
Modules or "all Pages"
Now that we've talked about uploading files into Canvas, as well as the different types of content you can create within Canvas, we have a choice to make about how to structure the course. In its most basic sense there are two approaches to creating a course structure. One approach uses Modules, the other sticks to using Pages as the organization tool.
Using Modules
- Creates a simple continuity and flow to your content.
- Groups content items together.
- Attaches prerequisites to items so they cannot be viewed immediately.
Using all Pages
- Allows you to create links to content as well as other pages.
- Gives you complete freedom to design the flow of your course.
- Requires you to design links between your Pages so your students can navigate correctly.
For first time, and basic users, we strongly recommend using Modules. Modules allows you to quickly create the backbone of your course. It also provides very simple, easy-to-follow navigation for your students that you will have to create manually if you go with all Pages.
